A local way into Thailand

Take the road
beside the obvious.

ThaiDetour is a small field guide for travelers who want one good route, a few honest stops and enough room for the day to surprise them.

Why ThaiDetour

Not everything worth remembering needs a full itinerary.

Sometimes it is one street before sunset, one bowl after dark, or one turn you would have missed.

ThaiDetour begins with routes we have walked ourselves. We photograph what is really there, check the details on the ground and publish only what genuinely helps.

The first ThaiDetour

One afternoon.
Two Bangkok stories.

Start with the working daylight of ถนนทรงวาด, then follow the changing light into Yaowarat after dark.

01

14:45–17:20 · MRT Wat Mangkon Exit 3

ถนนทรงวาด
Song Wat before sunset

Old shopfronts, wholesale trade, community lanes and new creative spaces share the same road. The story is not that Song Wat has been discovered—it is that the street is still working while it changes.

  • Follow the old commercial façades
  • Photograph trade without blocking it
  • Find the river behind the warehouses

02

17:30–21:00 · Yaowarat Road

Yaowarat
After dark

Let the street change around you: daylight on the shophouses, signs switching on, peppery noodles, wok fire and one soft dessert before the journey home.

  • Arrive before the lights take over
  • Order four textures, not ten dishes
  • Leave while the street is still alive

How we build each guide

Walk it.
Check it.
Tell it simply.

  1. 01Original photographs

Real streets, real light and permission when people are the subject.

  2. 02Field-checked details

Names, prices, opening days, transport and the small facts that prevent wasted time.

  3. 03A route with a point of view

Fewer stops, a better pace and a reason for every turn.
